Kristin lives near the sea, and has rarely been too far from its glittering waters. She was born in California at some ungodly hour in the morning on February 8th, 1982 - which makes her an Aquarius completely and utterly. Her parents moved several times before she was old enough to really remember - they just kept traveling east until they ran into the ocean again. She has been living on the east coast ever since. Although she grew up in Bethany Beach, Delaware, she attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, and currently resides in Milton, Delaware.
She's wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember, and art just came along for the ride and kind of borrowed the wheel. In elementary school, her and her friends used to make up hordes of characters to write into a young adult series. However, she spent way more time drawing the characters and their situations than actually writing about them - a realization that occured to her much later. Sadly, time came along and swept her dreams and stories into a shadowy corner, always prancing on the edge of her thoughts but never glowing bright enough to become tangible. It wasn't until college that it dawned on her to seriously try drawing - thanks to a new addiction to anime and comic books, the discovery of modern fantasy artists such as Amy Brown and Jessica Galbreth, and many art history classes where she got to drool over the beauty of 10,000 years of work.
Even though she majored in graphic design which principles certainly contribute to her art, she's a mostly self-taught artist. Messy mediums such as paint and charcoal have never been very nice to her, but the smooth glide of colored pencils is magic. She can't quite explain her technique - she just colors until she achieves the vibrance that suits the piece.
One day she may still write her own stories, but for now she's found a more visual way to share her imagination - her drawings are flickers into the fantastical world that dances within her mind. Sometimes the drawing begins first, and a story materializes while she's working. She gives others a further glimpse into what she's dreaming by writing tiny bits of poetry and prose to describe each original work.
She hopes you'll enjoy her underwater realm.
